80% of the people who live in India are Hindus and all over the world there are over 700 million Hindus.

Hinduism is the world’s oldest religion in the world and is believed to be over 4000 years old.

Hindus worship in a temple called a Mandir. They read books called Upanishads and Vedas. They contain stories that teach them how to be good Hindus. The mandirs and temples are decorated inside and outside to look very special.

	Stories are seen as a good way of passing on religious information and wisdom. Stories are also told through plays, dances, comic books, films and TV programmes.

Even though India has lots of different beliefs the people there try to accept differences and live peacefully together.
